I find HYPER-V best for bog standard VM's where basic server or simple file sharing required - for messing around with eseoteric hard/software then (sorry kari) it's not the best choice. VMWare will also Virtualize Win95 Win98 and even Win3.11 (windows for workgroups) as will VBOX.Īctually I think for adding / manipulating hardware to VM's such as various sorts of USB devices / joysticks etc I think you are better off using VMWare or VBox - or if a Linux user and you want something akin to HYPER-V then try Linux's hypervisors XEN and / or KVM.
